Renewable Horizons Launches Soon - A New Green Skills Education Project

A new era of STEM learning is on the horizon. At Rewise, we’re passionate about all forms of STEM education but there’s something particularly exciting about renewable energy. We believe it’s vital for young people to understand the opportunities this growing sector holds for their future.

This summer, Rewise Learning will begin rolling out Renewable Horizons, our ambitious new education project. It will help young people across the UK learn about renewable energy and the jobs they could do in the future. With a strong focus on offshore wind, hydrogen, and solar energy, this hands-on STEM program was created to inspire Key Stage 3 learners. Our hope is to spark interest in green industries and encourage young people to consider sustainable careers that will shape the future.

At its core, Renewable Horizons is about power. Learners will work in groups to build a fully functioning model town, complete with homes, offices, and working renewable energy infrastructure. The STEM kits we have designed won’t just teach science and engineering. They offer young people the chance to step into the role of leaders, problem-solvers, and decision-makers. These learners will power their town using technologies that mirror the real world: wind turbines, solar panels, and hydrogen power stations.

But wait, because it doesn’t stop there.

Each component of the model includes QR codes that link to detailed information about how that piece of technology works, its environmental benefits, and the careers that support it. Whether it’s engineering offshore wind turbines in the Celtic Sea or managing hydrogen storage systems in South Wales, learners will begin to understand the breadth of career opportunities in renewable energy.

This project may include only one day of practical learning, but it is so much more than that. We have designed this program with the hopes of building a legacy that lasts. Our digital learning hub will give schools and learners access to videos, lesson plans, activities, and career guidance. These resources, along with the train-the-trainer program, will allow educators to create their own lesson plans and expand the learning experience for their students in their own time. These resources will be accessible 24/7 to learners and educators.

So to summarise, Renewable Horizons aims to:

  • Give learners across the UK the opportunity to build practical STEM skills.

  • Create and educate about clear pathways to FE and HE study

  • Raise awareness of green careers and how to access them

  • Give learners hands-on technical skills and enhance critical thinking

  • Connect education with industry

Rewise has always prioritised learning that bridges the gap between the classroom and the wider world. This summer, our project will be delivered to forty schools. Hundreds of learners with a shared vision: A future powered by knowledge, curiosity, and renewable energy.
