The GFG Foundation Student Programme saw Rewise take on a European STEM and sustainability adventure, creating a community engagement programme located around Liberty Steel in Galati, Romania. Rewise designed an entirely new, bespoke and accredited learning programme to benefit young people in Romania and to promote learning STEM subjects, environmental sustainability, ‘green’ steel production and personal motivation. This STEM and sustainability challenge saw learners tasked with building a Bluetooth speaker from a recycled steel can.

About the Project

  • Funded by GFG Foundation, conceived & delivered by Rewise

  • Uk accredited bespoke educational workshop

  • We worked with 30 learners from Galati, Romania

  • Students set the challenge of building fully functioning Bluetooth speakers using recycled steel cans

  • Students learnt about electronics and coding to assemble and programme the speakers

  • A focus placed on sustainability, recycling and reusing our resources to prevent waste and avoid it going to landfill

  • Students used STEM skills to assemble the electronic components

  • Students learnt coding skills to programme the LED sequencing on their speakers

  • Students were given a guided tour of the Liberty Steel plant in Galati
